Songdo City is a new city being built from scratch in South Korea by the government and an international consortium of companies. During the initial stages of Songdo, I led the city’s innovation & strategy departments. Together with Korean government officials we created development strategies for building Songdo into a global city and center of innovation in Korea. Over the past few years our plans and policies have laid the foundation for a knowledge based economic cluster focused on biotechnology, IT, and green technology.

Some of our initiatives have resulted in all buildings being built with LEED certification, 30% of the city’s land being allocated for parks & green space, and establishment of a leading edge intelligent building network called U-Life. Also, Songdo is now the global center for the Cisco Systems Smart+Connected Communities Program.
